“En Mi Vida” (In My Life) is a visual narrative inspired by my uncle, who passed away after a cancer diagnosis. During the period between his initial prognosis and the aftermath of his loss, I noticed the amount of flowers and love that he received increased greatly. I wondered why our appreciation for the ones we love grows as we start to lose them. Loss, sickness and extreme circumstances give us permission to outwardly display our feelings in ways we have not before. 

This project weaves this theme through an optimistic lens, layering stories of people who have decided to gift their symbolic flowers to their loved ones in the present time. The individual images made in this series are fragments of stories that invite the viewer to contemplate on what is often overlooked.
